Powergaming

Powergaming is using in-game mechanics, external information, or roleplay actions to give your character or others an unrealistic or unfair advantage.

This rule works alongside Metagaming (using OOC knowledge) and the New Life Rule. Powergaming includes, but is not limited to:

  • Hearing conversations outside of proximity. If your character is separated by thick walls, different levels, or inside a vehicle, they would not be able to hear conversations clearly or at all. You must ignore any information gained this way.
  • Combat logging to avoid roleplay. Do not disconnect or log out during an active roleplay scene to avoid losing items, getting arrested, or taking part in medical roleplay. Attempting to avoid these situations may result in your items being wiped.
  • Unrealistic demands during hostile situations. During kidnappings or hostage situations, keep demands realistic. Police will not fulfil unrealistic requests such as money or weapons. Be creative and realistic, and note that executing hostages over unmet unrealistic demands may violate the RDM rule.
  • Unrealistic use of /me. You cannot take someone's belongings simply by typing /me takes comms. Items must actually be taken from the other player's inventory.
  • Chain robbing or scamming. Robbing multiple players or scamming others without sufficient roleplay context will not be tolerated. Every robbery or scam must have a valid roleplay explanation. You also cannot force anyone to hand over an item you cannot mechanically steal.
  • Taking vehicles inside buildings. Do not take vehicles into buildings or interiors they could not realistically enter.

Corruption in Allowlisted Government Jobs

Corruption in allowlisted government positions such as Police, EMS, DOJ, and DOC is prohibited and is treated as powergaming. See the Government Job Guidelines for details on corruption.
