Robbing and Scamming

Scamming is Prohibited

Scamming other players is strictly not allowed under any circumstances. Any form of deception used to take another player's items or money counts as scamming — for example breaking an agreed deal, faking a trade, or making false promises to obtain items — and is banned regardless of context.

Robbing Requires Prior Roleplay

Robbing another player requires meaningful prior roleplay. There must be a clear build-up and justification through roleplay interactions, and the robbery should contribute to an immersive, dynamic experience for everyone involved.

Do not rob someone and then kill them afterwards — unless the victim escalates with violence or presents a credible threat during the robbery.

Excessive robbing or chain robbing is not allowed. If your roleplay repeatedly ruins the experience of others, or is focused solely on robbing, you may be excluded from the server. Staff have the final say. See also Powergaming.

Heist Interference

  • Do not interfere with an active heist. Once another group's heist has started, you cannot interfere with it while that group has hostages and is actively engaged in roleplay.
    • Fleeca Banks: the heist is "active" when the bank status light is yellow. When the status light is red or green, the bank may be breached.
  • If no hostages are present, interference is allowed, but it must follow standard criminal roleplay rules (meaningful roleplay context, not random interference).

Who You Can Rob

  • Criminal vs. criminal: robbing within the criminal sphere is allowed — engaging in criminal activity carries inherent risk, so proceed with caution.
  • Civilians: do not rob players roleplaying as civilians or working civilian jobs unless there is a substantial roleplay reason. Criminal characters must keep their focus within the criminal sphere.
  • Phones: if you rob a player's phone, you must return it before the interaction ends. Phones are essential for gameplay and must never be taken permanently.

Item Restrictions

To keep the in-game economy healthy and avoid excessive losses, there are programmatic limits on what can and cannot be robbed.

  • Hydrated players: players with a "hydrated" status have more items available to be robbed. Repeated "loot-boxing" puts their hydrated status at risk.
  • Loot-boxing: excessively targeting players for items without meaningful roleplay or justification. It is penalised, including by revoking hydrated status or excluding the offender from the server.
  • Mechanics limitation: you cannot force anyone to hand over an item you cannot mechanically steal. This includes vehicle keys — you may not force someone to unlock their vehicle, as unlocking must be done using the keys item.

Opportunistic Robbery

Robbing is permitted when the target has clearly neglected their assets or security. For example:

  • Stealing unattended items, such as goods left unsecured (e.g. drying weed in an exposed location).
  • Taking advantage of poor situational awareness, such as players not keeping a lookout during criminal activity.

Weapons During Criminal Activity

You may defend your criminal activity with weapons, provided you follow the rules on Random Death Match (RDM). Verbal warnings or clear threats must come before any hostile action.

Info

Hydrate staff do not compensate for robbed items, even when a rule break has occurred.
