Fail Fear
Your character must always fear for their life and act realistically in life-threatening situations. Fail Fear is the failure to do so.
Your character must prioritise survival, responding with the same fear and caution a real person would. You may not claim that your character "does not fear" situations that would naturally be terrifying, such as a gun pointed at them or imminent death.
If responding in a non-compliant way would require an extra action first (for example, aiming a gun when someone already has theirs aimed at you), you must comply. Fighting back in this situation is Fail Fear.
This rule overlaps with Powergaming: acting without realistic fear can also be an unfair-advantage action.
Example Situational Guidelines
These are common examples, not a complete list. Always use careful judgement, and remember that staff have the final say.
You must comply when
- A weapon is pointed at you and you have no weapon drawn.
- You are not in an immediate position to shoot.
- You are in a vehicle with no clear path to escape while a firearm is aimed at you.
You may continue fighting when
- Your firearm is already drawn and you are in an active shootout.
You may not
- Use your vehicle as a weapon (see Vehicle Death Match).
- Purposely crash into walls, gas stations, bodies of water, or otherwise kill yourself to avoid roleplay.
If you have a specific roleplay idea that conflicts with this guideline, raise a support ticket in Discord under the "Unique Roleplay" category. For more details, see Unique Roleplay.
