Health and Hospitals
Hunger and thirst, healing items, what happens when you go down, and how hospitals work.
Hunger and Thirst
Your character needs to eat and drink. Hunger and thirst run down over about three hours, and you'll get a reminder when they're low. If either runs out completely, you quickly start losing health.
Any 24/7 store sells food and water. Both go off after a couple of hours in your inventory, so don't stock up too far ahead.
Healing
| Item | What it does | Where to get it |
|---|---|---|
| First aid kit | Heals you fully | 24/7 stores ($1,000) |
| Bandage | Heals a little | 24/7 stores ($250), or cheaper at the Pharmacy ($50) |
Going Down
- Knocked out (for example, in a fist fight): after a minute you can get back up.
- Incapacitated: you're down and need help. A timer runs, normally 5 minutes (2 minutes on Cayo Perico and at events).
While you're incapacitated, press F1 for your options:
- Call for Help sends an alert to police and EMS.
- Local EMS Transport becomes available once the timer runs out. It takes you to the nearest hospital with a free bed (other than Sandy Shores), treats you, and costs nothing. It isn't available while an on-duty police officer or paramedic is nearby, because they may be on their way to you.
If doctors are on duty, you may be offered treatment from a real doctor at Sandy Shores instead. You'll stay in bed until the doctor treats you and lets you go.
While you're down, nobody nearby can hear you, you can't use your phone, and your radio disconnects.
The rules still apply
What your character remembers after going down, and when you can return to a fight, are covered by the New Life Rule. Once you're back up, roleplay your injuries: see Injury Roleplay.
After a Gunshot
If you were killed with a firearm, your character's arm goes in a sling for 15 minutes, and you can't use weapons until it's off. Logging out doesn't skip it. Type /death_timer to see how long it's been since you last went down.
Hospitals
You can also walk into a hospital and check in at reception for treatment. Check-in is paid from your bank (or cash if your bank can't cover it). At Sandy Shores, if a doctor is on duty, they'll treat you themselves.
| Hospital | Check-in |
|---|---|
| Pillbox | $1,000 |
| Route 68 | $600 |
| Sandy Shores | $500 |
| Paleto Bay | $300 |
| St Fiacre | $300 |
Pillbox, Sandy Shores and Route 68 hospitals are weapon-free zones, and every hospital is off-limits for hostile roleplay. See Hostilities.
