Jobs and Getting Paid
Where to find legal work in the city, how job pay works, and how to collect your earnings.
There's no job centre in the city: most legal work is something you just walk up to and start. Here's where to look, and how you get paid.
How Pay Works
Most civilian jobs add your pay to a salary that builds up as you work. To collect it, visit a bank teller and choose Collect Salary. Tellers are at the Main Bank and Route 68 (the Country Club teller is for Hydrated members). You can collect whenever you like.
Selling goods to buyers, such as fish or produce, pays straight into your bank.
Jobs You Can Start Now
Each of these has a marker on your map.
| Job | Where to start | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| Fishing | Salty Angler (there are three) | A rod and bait from Salty Angler. Sell your catch there too. |
| Hunting | Master Baits | A hunting licence, the Musket (other rifles unlock as you level up), a hunting knife and a tracker. Take carcasses to the Butcher. |
| Butcher | Butcher | Carcasses from hunting. Process the meat and fill orders. |
| Mining | Mining Quarry | A pickaxe from the quarry shop. Better pickaxes unlock as you level up. |
| Trucking | Trucking [Job], at the port | Nothing to start. Bring the truck back to the depot to get paid. |
| Garbage | HOBO Inc. Waste | A group (see below). The leader signs in and pays a refundable truck deposit. |
| Gold panning | Gold Panning spots on rivers | A gold pan from Master Baits. Smelt what you find into bars and sell them. |
| Metal detecting | Metal Detecting, Vespucci Beach | A metal detector and a shovel from the same shop. |
| Farming | Cluck N Load Farming | Seeds and tools from the farm shop. Plant, water, harvest, then sell. |
| Yoink | The Yoink phone app | A taxi (around $70,000), from the Service section at the dealership. Pick up riders for fares. |
Working Together: Groups
Some jobs, like garbage collection, need a group. Open the Groups app on your phone to create one with a password, then share it with friends so they can join.
Levelling Up
Many jobs get better the more you do them: better gear, more loot, bigger contracts. Open the Progression app on your phone to see your levels and what they unlock. A job shows up there once you've earned some experience in it.
Working for a Business
Player-run businesses, such as restaurants, mechanics and Toben Towing, hire in person. Find one that's open in the Businesses app and ask a manager: they'll add you from their Jobs app.
- You can work for up to two businesses at once (no limit with Hydrated status).
- If you have more than one job, switch between them in the Jobs app.
Government Jobs
Police, EMS, the Department of Justice and the Department of Corrections are allowlisted roles, with their own recruitment. Keep an eye on our Discord (opens in a new tab) for openings, and read the Government Job Guidelines before you apply.
